Encountering Blue Screen on Windows

"Sometimes called as Blue Screen of Death..."
Symptoms
  • Whenever you run a program on Windows, blue screen will be displayed.
  • Whenever you install Windows, the computer will unable to read a file from a CD-ROM.
  • Whenever you install Windows, after a few minutes, it will not continue or it goes back to the beginning from time to time. Usually, maximum time when installing a Windows is approximately 1.5hours depending on your computer speed.
Causes
  • Memory Module/s is defective.
  • Hard Disk Drive has a bad sector.
  • IDE Cable is loose.
  • CD-ROM is defective.
  • RAM Slot is defective.
Solutions
  • To check the memory module/s, test the memory using Windows Memory Diagnostic, if it has an error/s, buy a new memory module(Check your motherboard for compatibility) since memory modules cannot be fixed and are disposable.
  • To check the hard disk drive, test it using the Windows Scandisk, if it detects a bad sector, buy a new hard disk drive since bad sector/s cannot be fixed and are disposable.
  • Try to tighten the loose IDE Cable or change for new cable.
  • Clean the CD-ROM using a CD Cleaner.
  • If RAM Slot is defective, you might need to buy a new motherboard.
